Iranian scientist Majid Shahriari was killed and Fereydoun Abbasi was injured in two separate terrorist attacks on their cars while they were on their way to Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
Former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General (Retd) Hamid Gul strongly condemned the act, adding that Iranian nuclear program cannot be deterred by such moves.
He said that at early stages of Pakistani nuclear program some scientists were attacked to pressurize Pakistan to halt its nuclear activities.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast, condemning the attacks, stated that Iran's enemies in vain try to obstruct the path of the Iranian nation's progress towards knowledge and development.
Hamid Gul was of the view that there is absolutely no doubt about that Mossad is behind the killing of Iranian scientist. “Israel always stands behind plots against Muslim world’, he added.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said in a press conference that undoubtedly, the western governments and the Zionist regime were involved in the terror acts which killed one of the country's nuclear scientists.
'They will not be able to stop the Iranian nation's activities by such acts,' he said.
Former ISI chief, expressing his opinion, said that the objective of such act is to intimidate other people attached with the nuclear program of Iran.
He added that large scale nuclear programs are not dependent on individuals rather they are developed by highly motivational teams.
He stated that Iran’s nuclear program cannot be stopped.
“The assassinated scientist is a martyr”, said the former general.
Hamid Gul strongly believed that Iranian government would not roll-back its nuclear program under the influence of Western conspiracies.
Following the recent terrorist attack on Iranian lecturers, 262 Iranian lawmakers have also condemned the move that is widely believed to have targeted the country's nuclear achievements.
On July 12, Iranian physics Massoud Ali-Mohammadi was killed in a remote-controlled bomb attack in Tehran.
Hamid Gul served as the director general of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence during 1987-89, mainly in the time when Benazir Bhutto was Prime Minister of Pakistan.
